EDUCATE A CHILD

HAITI

THE NEED TO EDUCATE A CHILD
  • 50% of Haitian children do not attend school

  • 49% of Haiti's population is illiterate

  • 59% of Haitians live on less than $2 per day

  • 40% unemployment rate 250,000 Haitian children live in domestic servitude

THE NEED

In light of a non-existent public school system and rampant unemployment, many Haitians are unable to afford to educate their families.

As a result, half of all children do not attend school. Instead, families find themselves destined to continue in this cycle of poverty.

Worse yet, with so many desperate parents who cannot care for their unschooled children, more than 250,000 Haitian children have been forced into domestic servitude.

OUR RESPONSE

Mercy International’s desire is to bring Gospel truth and sustainable help to the Haitian families that God puts in our path. With your student sponsorship, Mercy hopes to help families stay together and break the cycle of poverty.

Our prayer is that students can be educated, find jobs, and eventually help sustain their family. And with that education also comes literacy.

Given that 49% of Haiti’s population is unable to read, what a joy it is to equip a student to read the Bible to their families!

THE POWER OF EDUCATION

Education is not just about acquiring knowledge; it's a catalyst for change. It empowers young minds, equips them with skills, and instills confidence, enabling them to break free from the constraints of poverty.

By sponsoring a student, you're not only investing in their education but also in their dreams, aspirations, and the well-being of their entire family
