On Saturday we enjoyed another “Haiti Day at the Lake” with families joining us from all over San Antonio who adopted children from Haiti in the years after the earthquake. God gave us beautiful weather and everyone had a great time playing in the water, fellowshipping and catching up. All of the children are happy and healthy, which was wonderful to see.
God is so good to give us times of refreshment and fellowship. He knows exactly what we need. It was a beautiful and blessed day!
In addition to all of our old friends, we had two new special guests join the gathering this year: Haitian President Michel Martelly’s older brother Gerard and his wife Pauline!
It was an honor to visit with them and get to know them better. They seem genuinely interested in meeting adoptive families and understanding the process better. We believe they will be attending more of our events in the future.
Gerard and Pauline are both delightful and gracious people and we enjoyed our time with them.
Natasha and Kendall asked for a photo with Gerard, to which he gladly obliged. The girls have a genuine heart for the people of Haiti so it was quite the treat for them to meet Mr. Martelly.
Once again, God seems to be paving the way, opening doors, and establishing our steps in ways we never would have imagined. We continue to stand amazed at His working in our lives and the lives of the people in Haiti and we look forward to seeing what He continues to do.
“The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.” Proverbs 16:9
